About CLAT 2021 PG Entrance Exam

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2021 PG) is a national-level entrance exam for admissions to postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by 22 National Law Universities around the country. CLAT is organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities consisting of the representative universities.

About Consortium

The Consortium of National Law Universities was established on 19th August 2017 with the aim of improving the standard of legal education in the country and justice system through legal education with Prof. R. Venkata Rao, erstwhile Vice-Chancellor, NLSIU as President and Prof. Faizan Mustafa, Vice-Chancellor, NALSAR, as Vice-President.

The Consortium aspires to facilitate better coordination amongst National Law Schools to achieve the highest standards of legal education in the country. Twenty-One National Law Universities have joined the Consortium as founder members. The serving President of the Consortium is Prof. V. Vijayakumar, Vice-Chancellor, NLIU and Vice-President is Prof. Paramjit S. Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor, RGNUL.

Date of the Exam

The exam will be conducted on 13th June 2021 from 3 PM to 5 PM.[Extended]

Eligibility Criteria

Post Graduate

Educational Qualification: An LL.B degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of Fifty (50%) marks or its equivalent grade and Forty-Five (45%) marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.

Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in April/May 2021, are also eligible to apply.

PG Question Paper Format

  1. Maximum Marks: 150
  2. Duration of exam: 02:00 Hours
  3. Multiple-Choice Questions: 100 questions of one mark each
  4. Subjective Questions: 50 Marks (Two Essay type questions each of 25 Marks, 800 words per essay) on the topics of law and contemporary issues
  5. Negative Marking: 0.25 Mark will be deducted for each wrong answer

Syllabus

CLAT 2021 Post-Graduate The paper will be based on the mandatory subjects of the undergraduate program and include Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, and Labour & Industrial Law.
